SCHA Activities
Listed below are some of the activities that South County Horsemen’s Association
might have throughout the year:
Camping Trips: SCHA includes several camp trips on our ride schedule. We have
some favorite campgrounds that range from the Sierra Nevada’s to Point Reyes Sea
Shore.
Summer Potluck: Each July we have one of our general membership meetings at Elk
Grove Park where we have a potluck picnic. Come out and enjoy good food, good
friends, and good fun! - Third Wednesday in July.
PlayDay: The SCHA PlayDay event is one of our biggest fund raisers. This event is
usually held in October and includes costume classes, ribbon races, egg and spoon
races, and much more. This is a day that the whole family can enjoy!
Conditioning Classes: SCHA has spring conditioning classes where your horse learns
to negotiate obstacles, move off your leg, give to the bit, and much, much more.
Trail Work Projects: SCHA members volunteer their time working with local
organizations on trail projects. We have been instrumental in the development of
equestrian campgrounds, working on existing trails and building brand new trails.
We have adopted a portion of the Folsom Lake Equestrian Trail that we maintain.
Benefit Rides: SCHA members have earned thousands of dollars for The Saint Jude
Children’s Hospital by obtaining sponsors and hosting benefit rides for the children
and families in need.
Christmas Party: We always have a great time with our family and friends at our
Christmas Party and awards dinner in December!
